How to Spend 7 Days in Brazil for Carnival

Brazil is a fascinating country known for the Carnival event that occurs every year. Millions of tourists go to Brazil to experience the 5-day celebration. The festival is known for its lavish costumes, music, public street parties, and traditional dance routines. The purpose is to honor the spirit of overindulgence. This year the event is from February 9th to 12th. We are going to Brazil for the event to celebrate my best friend’s 30th birthday! The trip will be from Sunday, February 11th to Saturday, February 17th.

We recommend spending the day attending Blocos, which are casual free block parties and at night going to the Sambadrome parade. The fun day will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience you will remember forever!

-Copacabana & Leme: This is a touristy area where dozens of Blocos occur daily. Blocos in these neighborhoods will appeal to the 20s-30s crowd.
-Santa Teresa: This artistic neighborhood hosts two very popular Blocos. The first is called Carmelitas, based on a nun who escaped a local convent to join in the carnival celebrations. The second is Ceu na Terra, which hosts traditional carnival celebrations with large puppets re-enacting local stories.
-Aterro do Flamengo: Blocos here are in a park on the grass, so they feel more like a music festival. One of the most famous blocos is Sargento pimento, a blocos dedicated to playing Beatles music.
-Attend the Sambadrome parade of the champions from 10 pm to 3 am. There are many ticket options available based on your budget. Get Your Guide has event tickets for $90-150. You are not guaranteed a specific seat when you purchase, but when you book with a group, your group will be seated together.
