Tour #1: Walking Tour of Cusco

Many tourists who visit Cusco rush through the city to get to Machu Picchu without appreciating its beauty. The ancient capital of the Incas is worth exploring in detail and on a tour. The tour guide will walk you through Cusco’s most important landmarks, including the main square, Plaza de Armas, and the temple of Coricancha. Plaza de Armas is located in the heart of the city and is truly a beautiful, historic location to stroll. There is a reminder of the country’s past and culture because the architecture is Inca and Spanish Colonial. The tour also includes visits to nearby ruins such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. Lastly, you will feed the animals at the Alpaca and Llama Sanctuary!

Highlights:

  • Explore Plaza de Armas
  • Admire the Coricancha Temple
  • Visit Inca Ruins: Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay
  • Feed Alpacas

Tour #2: Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an Inca citadel from the 15th century at 7,970 feet above sea level. The Lost City of the Incas has terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps, alpacas roaming, and urban areas to explore. The mountainous views are incredible. You can hike up to the Sun Gate at an altitude of 9,000 feet above sea level. Opting for a guided tour is a great way to learn about its construction and history. Adding the magnificent wonder of the world to your bucket list of things to do in Peru will surely be worth it.

Tour #3: Ollantaytambo + Pisac Market:

The tour will take you to Ollantaytambo and the Pisac market. Ollantaytambo is an Inca site at 9,160 ft above sea level. You will also visit the Pisac Market, where local Quechua communities set up shops on the main square. The ladies wear hand-woven traditional skirts called polleras made of wool cloth. The skirts have a colorful band called Puyto.

Tour #4: Moras + Moray Ruins:

This tour does not only stop at Ollantaytambo and the Pisac Market but also at the Moray and Moras ruins!

The Moray ruins are terraces used by the Incas to experiment and ensure all land, regardless of the altitude and weather, can be used for farming.

The Moras ruins are composed of 5,000 salt ponds. I almost fell into one of the salt ponds and received 12 years of bad luck.

Tour #5: Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley:

Rainbow Mountain is considered a holy site in Peru and is a spectacular multi-colored mountain.

Hiking the extra mile and adding Red Valley to your Rainbow Mountain excursion will be the best decision of your life! The Red Valley is stunning and when you are hiking, it feels like you are on another planet.

Tour #6: Zip Lining and White Water Rafting

Splash your way down rapids during this white water rafting adventure on Peru’s Urubamba River. Afterward, you will enjoy the hot sauna and an authentic lunch. The last part of this adventure is to go zip-lining. You will strap into a zip line for the adrenaline rush and amazing views below.

Tour #7: Horseback Riding to the Moon Temple

Horseback riding to the Moon Temple will be a fun adventure to add to your Cusco bucket list. Visiting the moon temple or Salumpunku in Cusco is usually overlooked by tourists; however, it is a fascinating place to see. The temple has two caves that contain cracks within the walls. The cracks let in sunlight and moonlight. The Incas worship the moon, sun, and Pachamama, or mother nature.

Tour #8: Humanity Lake

Humanity Lake is breathtaking and you will not regret adding this scenic view to your list of things to do in Cusco, Peru! You will take a scenic trek through the Andes Mountains to discover the turquoise waters of the alpine Humantay Lake.

Tour #9: Marcahuasi Experience in Lima

The Marcahuasi stone forest is a mystical site to add to your Peru bucket list for anyone who loves spending time in nature!

Tour #10: Half-Day Cultural Tour of Lima, Peru

We recommend booking a tour in Lima to learn more about the history and culture! You will go to an archaeological site in the middle of Lima, watch the changing of the guard at the Government Palace, see the art and architecture of a colonial church, and admire the colonial Casa Osambela!
