25 Adventures to Add to Your European Bucket List

Europe has unique architecture, fascinating history, and beautiful castles to explore. There are many events to attend, from Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, to the Carnival in Venice, Italy. Nature in Europe is beautiful and diverse. There are mountains to hike in the Swiss Alps, beaches to go to in Portugal, and clear lakes to visit in Croatia. You can EVEN see the northern lights from Europe. Going to Europe is like walking through history because you will find palaces and museums in every country you visit. Below are 25 adventures to add to your European Bucket List!

1- Cross the London Bridge-

London Bridge is iconic for being the oldest river crossing in London. The bridge brings the river and road traffic together. It was built from the ground up many times to last and is made out of steel today. I went on a boat ride and saw London Bridge and other famous buildings from the water!

2- Witness the View from the Top of the Eiffel Tower

An elevator will take you to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Although the view at the top is STUNNING, the Eiffel Tower itself is impressive. Don’t forget to go to the Eiffel Tower at night to see it light up gold and sparkle. You can even have wine at the park near the statue in PUBLIC.

3- Tour the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona

A trip to Spain is incomplete without visiting Barcelona, Spain’s cultural capital. The city is home to Antoni Gaudi’s architecture, including the world’s most beautiful church, La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia features large stained-glass windows that drape the interior, 18 towers, and whimsical details like mosaic tiles. There is an elevator to get to the top of the two towers. 4- Gondola Ride in Venice

Venice is the most picturesque city in Italy. It is a city surrounded by canals and over 400 bridges. A Gondola ride is the best way to experience the incredible atmosphere. A friendly, knowledgeable tour guide who happens to sing is an experience you will remember forever.

5- Watch the Sunset in Santorini

Oia is a town located in Santorini with some of the best sunsets. This place is especially magical because it has stunning views of the water. There are restaurants and bars to try and unique boutiques to go shopping. Ari and I witnessed the infamous sunset while enjoying a glass of Greek wine and dessert at a traditional Greek restaurant. Santorini has been producing wine since ancient times. The red wine is less desired. Give their white or sparkling wine a try! The most famous wine is Assyrtiko, a dry white wine that pairs well with seafood.

6- Go on a Road Trip in Iceland

There is SO much to do in Iceland and going on a ROAD TRIP is the perfect idea to see it all! In Iceland, you will find black sand beaches, the northern lights, hot springs, glaciers, caves, and waterfalls!

7- Take a Photo of the Red Telephone Booths in the UK

The red telephone boxes are one of the most enduring symbols of London today. They are not hard to miss, and you will find them all over the United Kingdom.

8- Swim at a Beach in Lagos, Portugal

10- See the Windmills in Holland

The best place to witness the windmills in the Netherlands is at Keukenhof, where you will also see the largest flower garden in the world! This garden is SOOOO beautiful that you will NOT regret adding it to your European bucket list.

11- Drink Beer at Oktoberfest in Munich

Did you know? Oktoberfest lasts 18 days and is from September 16th to October 10th this year! The event has 31 tents serving DELICIOUS beer and chicken! There are also vegetarian options!

Switzerland is home to the most beautiful SWISS ALPS and what better way to see them than to take a scenic train ride?

13- Relax at the Budapest Baths in Hungary

Budapest is known as the city of thermal baths and SPAS because it has NATURAL hot springs! Thermal water is high in minerals and has MANY benefits. You can EVEN visit Budapest in the winter and go to the thermal baths because they are hot throughout the year. The most popular baths are Széchenyi, Rudas, and Gellért.

14- Boat Ride at the Blue Lagoon in Croatia

Dubrovnik is a coastal island in Croatia. Croatia has more than 1,000 islands to explore. The waterfront is stunning. The city is known for its rich history because it is an Old Town district. You will find narrow alleyways, cobblestone floors, medieval walls, and terracotta roofs. 

16- Palace Tour in Vienna, Austria

There are many palaces in Vienna reflecting the country’s culture and history. The most famous ones are Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace, and Imperial Palace.

17- Have chocolate, beer, or waffles in Belgium

From PERSONAL experience, BELGIUM does have the BEST chocolate in the world. My sister worked abroad in Belgium and brought us home chocolate from the airport and it hit the spot. Belgium is also known for having beer and waffles, so don’t forget to order a few local drinks.

18- See the Northern Lights in Iceland

The best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland is between September and April. WOW, now that is a sight YOU HAVE to see at least once in your life. Another spot to see the northern lights in Europe is Norway. 

19- Visit Tallin, Estonia

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, where you will find medieval and modern architecture and TONS of historical attractions. Don’t forget to visit Tallinn’s old town on the coast of the Baltic Sea.

20- Go inside the Sistine Chapel Vatican

Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region. The charming place has beautiful attractions to explore. The Sistine Chapel, spiral staircase, and Raphael Rooms are treasures within the Vatican Museum. You will find Greek and Roman statues and oil paintings on the walls of this Museum.

21- Dog Sledding in Tromso, Norway

Tromso is a city in Norway where you can go dog sledding, see the northern lights, go whale watching, or even go polar fishing! There is so much to do that you will not be bored for a second!

The Old Town of Prague has charming streets, picturesque buildings, and iconic places to explore, including the Old Town Square, Old Town Hall, Astronomical Clock, and the Havelska Market. Don’t forget to take a boat tour of River Vltava.
