Planning Your Trip:
Book Your Flight:

December is the perfect time for a weekend or week-long getaway. The city is lit up with holiday lights and dazzling decorations everywhere you turn. For the best deals on airfare, I recommend checking Google Flights or CheapoAir early—booking in advance guarantees you the dates you want and saves you money.
Find Your Hotel:
Look for hotels near the heart of Manhattan through Booking.com. Read reviews carefully to find a spot that’s comfortable and close to the holiday excitement. Staying central means more time enjoying the city and less time commuting.
Getting Around:
The subway is by far the most budget-friendly way to navigate NYC, and it’s pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. If you’re new to the city or want a more relaxed experience, Uber is convenient, though a bit pricier. Either way, you’ll be set for adventure!
Day 1: Arrival, Settling In, and Holiday Markets:

Once you arrive and check into your hotel, head straight to one of NYC’s festive holiday markets—Bryant Park or Union Square. They’re full of charming vendors, seasonal treats, and unique gifts. For this itinerary, go to Bryant Park. For dinner, I love dining at Stardust Diner for its nostalgic vibe and live singing, or cozy up at Frosty’s or Rolf’s for their over-the-top holiday decorations. Frosty’s is a pop up Christmas Bar that has tacos.
Holiday Markets in NYC:
- Bryant Park Winter Village
- Grand Central Holiday Fair
- Times Square Holiday Market
- Union Square Holiday Market
- Columbus Circle Holiday Market
- Brookfield Place Winter Market
Festive NYC Bars/Restaurants:

- Frosty’s
- Stardust Diner
- Lillie’s Victorian Establishment
Day 2: Book a Show and Visit Rockefeller Center

Kick off your morning with a coffee and a pastry from a local bakery—nothing beats that NYC vibe. Then, spend the afternoon immersed in a show, whether you decide to visit Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockettes perform their legendary holiday show or see Clara at the Nutcracker is up to you! You can even go to a iconic Broadway Play.
Performances:

After the show, walk over to Rockefeller Center. The decorations are breathtaking, and the Christmas Tree is a must-see. Cap off the day with ice skating at Rockefeller or Bryant Park—both iconic NYC experiences you’ll never forget. BOOK A HOLIDAY LIGHTS TOUR!
Day 3: Ice Hockey and Snow at Central Park

Your last full day should be full of fun! Start your day strolling through Central Park to see the snow-dusted trees. Catch a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden—hockey during the holidays is such a festive, lively experience.
NYC during the holidays is truly special—bright lights, festive cheer, and so many memorable moments. I hope this itinerary helps you make the most of your trip. Whether it’s your first visit or a holiday tradition, the city always has something magical to offer. Enjoy every moment!
