15 Adventures to Add to Your Bucket List

The world has many natural wonders and man-made sites to explore. This adventurous bucket list has destinations to visit with incredible landscapes, like the White Sands National Park to historic buildings to see at the Ancient Ruins of Petra. Let’s dive deeper into 15 adventures to add to YOUR bucket list!

Adventure #1: Explore the Ancient Ruins of Petra in Jordan

Petra is an abandoned city discovered by a Swiss Explorer named Johann in 1812. Thousands of years ago, Petra, in southern Jordan, was thriving. The temples, tombs, and other elaborate buildings carved from the mountainside are incredible. The most famous is the ancient treasury, as shown in the photo above, a sandstone temple. It is the most intricate, beautiful building to see. The best way to see Petra is by booking a tour. Tours are great because the guides have SOOOO much insight into the history, architecture, and people that once lived there.

Adventure #2: Explore the Pak Ou Caves in Laos

The Pak Ou Caves or Tim Tam Caves is a Buddhist Shrine consisting of an upper and lower limestone cave on the Mekong River. There are 1,000 sculptures of Buddha housed inside the caves. 

 Adventure #3: Swim with Manta Rays in the Crystal Clear Water of the Maldives-

Swimming in the warm turquoise water of the Maldives will be remembered forever. You will enjoy the incredible weather, palm trees, white sand, and water sports. There are 1,190 islands to go snorkeling at with reef sharks, whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, and tropical fish. Manta Rays are the largest rays in the world, with an average wingspan of 23 feet. Booking a tour is the best way to experience this activity!

Adventure #4: Swim at Jellyfish Lake at Palau-

Nature has allowed us to swim with beautiful jellyfish up close and not get stung, so why not book the tour in Palau and take on this once-in-a-lifetime experience? Eil Malk Island in Palau has the one and only jellyfish lakes in the world. The marine lake is home to golden jellyfish that do not have stingers. The jellyfish eat algae and do not need their stingers to catch prey. Scuba diving is NOT allowed at Jellyfish Lake. 

Adventure #5: White Sands National Park-

 White Sands National Park, in New Mexico, is the most beautiful spot to get lost and take iconic photos of the dunes. You can find stunning landscapes everywhere you look. There are a few trails to cover, including Dune Life Nature Trail, Playa Trail, and Interdune Boardwalk. Don’t forget to visit Lake Lucero. 

Adventure #6: Cavo Tagoo in Mykonos- 

Cave Tagoo is a luxury place to stay in Mykonos, Greece, with an infinite pool in a cave overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The sunset views are gorgeous.

Adventure #7: Hobbit Huts in New Zealand-

You can physically stay overnight at a hobbit hut in New Zealand! How cool is that? It only costs $6 US per night. You can stay in a hobbit hut at Woodlyn Park Hotel and Underhill. Adventure #8: Glowworm Caves in New Zealand

Speaking of GLOWWORM caves, you MUST add it to your bucket list. The caves, underground rivers, glowworms, and sinkholes exist under the beautiful green grass ways of Waitomo. The best way to see the caves is with a tour; however, whether you go on a boat or a walking tour is up to you! You can even go through the caves on a singular tube if you’re up for it!

Adventure #9: Crater Lake National Park in Oregon

Crater Lake is the deepest blue lake in America. The lake’s water comes directly from snow or rain, making it one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in the world. The lake, formed by a volcano 7,700 years ago, is stunning in summer or winter. The winter season lasts from November to April. 

Adventure #10: Batu Caves Temple-

The Batu Caves is in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The Batu Caves are situated in scenic mountains home to Hindu shrines. The best time to visit is between May and July. Hindu festivals occur near the caves all the time. The one in late January is called Thaipusam. There are SOOOO many monkeys living in the caves, so be careful and hold on tight to your things because they will steal your water bottle. Don’t forget to snap a photo in front of the rainbow staircase leading to the caves.

Adventure #11: Kentucky Derby in the US-

The Kentucky Derby is not open for any horse. Thousands of horses compete in a series of races in order to qualify to be a part of this race. ONLY 20 qualify and betting on the horses is allowed in 34 states. I would LOVE to go to the Kentucky Derby at least once in my lifetime!

Adventure #12: Bike Riding in Amsterdam-

Amsterdam has bike lanes throughout the city and canals making for an enjoyable and safe experience. They also have bike traffic lights, signs, and so forth. It is the most accessible place to go bike riding! 

Adventure #13: Castle Tour in Budapest-

There are more than 100 castles to explore in Hungary. The best ones are Vajdahunyad Castle and Buda Castle in Budapest. The best way to see them is to go on a Castle tour because they will share SOOO much information about each castle. At the Buda Castle, you can see the changing of the guard’s ceremony, fishermen’s bastion, Matthias church, and Faust wine cellar. 

Adventure #14: Scuba Dive in the Great Barrier Reef-

The best diving spot in the world is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia for many reasons, including underwater life, turquoise blue waters, and beautiful reefs. Book a tour to have the best diving or snorkeling experience! Did you know? It is a collection of 3,000 individual reefs. Please DO NOT touch the coral because living organisms live there, and you can kill them. 

Adventure #15: Boat Ride to the Blue Grotto in Italy-

The Blue Grotto, on the island of Capri, lights up naturally by the refraction of daylight. The water is so clear! You can book a boat tour to see the Blue Grotto from Positano and adventure off on a day trip to Capri.
