22 Adventures to Add to Your Italy Bucket List

22 Adventures to Add to Your Italy Bucket List

Italy is a beautiful country home to cobblestone streets and the Colosseum in Rome, bridges and canals in Venice, art galleries and museums in Florence, churches and palaces in Milan, and amazing views in Cinque Terre and Lake Como. A visit to Italy should be at the TOP of your bucket list! Below are 22 adventures to add to your Italy bucket list.

1-Enjoy a View in Cinque Terre-

Cinque Terre offers incredible views of turquoise water. You will witness the view from beautiful pastel-colored buildings on the mountainous terrain called the Maritime Alps. Manarola is the village in Cinque Terre that is most iconic because a photo of this town went VIRAL online; however, we recommend going to other towns also, including Vernazza and Monterosso.

Vernazza is home to a small cove where you can swim or enjoy a boat ride.

Monterosso is the largest town with TWO beautiful beaches, restaurants, shops, and places to stay. Don’t forget to try limoncello, a popular lemon-flavored drink.

2-Ride a Vespa-

Vespa is a luxury brand of scooters and mopeds that you will find in Italy!! DO NOT ride a Vespa in crowded areas of the city! I recommend going to the countryside so that you are safe when you go for a ride for the first time.

3-Ski in the Alps-

Did you know? The mountains on the border between Italy and Switzerland are almost identical. You can enjoy skiing or snowboarding on either side!!

4-Michelangelo’s Statue of David at Galleria Academia-

WOW! I have no words for the beautiful statue of David created by Michelangelo. The Galleria Academia WAS STUNNING. You will see HUNDREDS of sculptures in the gallery; however, the Statue of David, created between 1501 and 1504, is the largest.

5-Admire the Art at the Uffizi Gallery-

When I say this is the BEST Gallery I have EVER been to, I mean it. You will NOT regret adding this to your ITALY bucket list. You will find oil paintings from artists including Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio!

6-Enjoy the Local Food: Cappuccino, Gelato, Pizza, Pasta, Ravioli, Cannoli’s, Wine…-

ITALY has the best Cappuccino in the world based on personal experience. It doesn’t matter which cafe or restaurant you go to because EVERY coffee you order you will enjoy! Don’t forget to indulge in gelato, cannolis, pizza, pasta, ravioli, and wine.

7-Toss a Coin in the Trevi Fountain-

Although the Trevi Fountain is overcrowded and touristy, it is worth a visit because of how beautiful and majestic it is. The fountain features Neptune, the god of the sea.

8-Watch an Opera-

Book tickets at the Teatro La Fenice Opera House to have a unique leisure experience enjoying opera music!

9-Gondola Ride in Venice-

Go on a gondola ride or boat ride in Venice to see the beautiful canals and bridges from a new, unique perspective.

10-Doge’s Palace in Venice-

WOW! I have NO words for how stunning the ceilings are at the Doge’s Palace, with iconic oil paintings and gold frames. Also, DO NOT get lost in the dungeons underground in the Palace. Don’t go to the dungeons if you are claustrophobic.

11-Drive the Almafi Coast-

The Almafi Coast has pastel fishing villages, small beaches, and a coastal road to drive along for EPIC views! Be sure to stop at Positano!

12-Explore Pompeii-

Pompeii is an archaeological site, once a Roman city, in southern Italy near Naples. The streets and houses were buried in ash after a volcanic eruption in 79 A.D.

13- Take a photo with the Leaning Tower of Pisa-

The tower is known for its 4-degree lean! The tower is leaning and was built this way by accident from poor planning. The clay and sand were not strong enough to hold the building.

14-Ferry to Capri and see the Blue Grotto-

The island of Capri off of the Almafi Coast is STUNNING. Near Capri, you will find the Blue Grotto, a cave with aqua-blue water that lights up in the darkness.

15- Tour the Colosseum-

The Colosseum is one of the seven wonders of the world! It is no doubt that it MUST be on your Italy BUCKET LIST! The main amphitheater dates back to AD 72. A small group tour is the best way to see the building because you can skip the line, but also because they will teach you about the gladiator fights that once took place inside. Did you know? Gladiators would not only fight each other but also ferocious animals! Criminals would be fed to the starving animals, too.

16-Climb a Volcano in Sicily-

You can hike Mount Etna Volcano in Sicily but BE CAREFUL because it is an ACTIVE volcano.

17-Boat Tour in Lake Como-

Lake Como is a beautiful location in Italy and what better way to experience it than to take a boat ride through it? The lake is in northern Italy along the foothills of the Alps. Bellagio is the most beautiful town to explore along Lake Como.

18 -See the Florence Duomo-

While Italy has incredible cathedrals, the Duomo is one of the most ICONIC churches. The orange dome is not hard to miss. The church is free to visit.

19 -Wine Tasting in Tuscany-

Top 25 Places to Visit in Europe

Top 25 Places to Visit in Europe

Experiencing any country in Europe is like walking through history. A Europe trip will open your eyes to new cultures and incredible architecture. Anywhere you go in Europe will be a wonderful experience. Below are the top 25 places to visit in Europe.

1- Split, Croatia-

Croatia is famous for its gorgeous waterfalls and spectacular rocky coast. There are more than 1,000 islands with turquoise blue water in Croatia that you can go and see for yourself!

We recommend visiting Split, Dubrovnik, and Hvar. Dubrovnik and Split are medieval cities filled with world-class restaurants.

Tour to Book: The Croatian Coast Island Speedboat Tour from Split will be worth every penny!

What are the highlights of the trip? A few highlights from the trip include visiting the Blue Cave, going to the fishing village of Komiža, swimming and snorkeling in Stiniva Cove, and exploring the old town of Hvar! Hvar is shown in the photo above.

How do you travel to each island? You will travel by boat and see beautiful sights from the water. The professional guides are super informative and friendly!

My Experience: My favorite part about the tour described above was visiting ‘The Blue Cave’. This cave contains natural light from the sun shining through the cave. It was incredible.

Fun Fact: I also saved someone’s life on this tour. We had the option to swim out to a beach at Stiniva Cove. A few of us swam to the beach; however, one could not make it back. I was able to swim out and give him a life jacket. He made it back on the speedboat safe and sound! The tour guide was kind and gave me a free soda when we got to the next island.

2- KRKA National Park Croatia-

KRKA National Park is located in Southern Croatia along the KRKA river. Spending a day at this river is for you if you enjoy mesmerizing, untouched nature. The park has an abundance of waterfalls and a diverse amount of flora and fauna.

3- Edinburgh, Scotland-

Edinburgh is a fairytale destination because there are old buildings and cobblestone streets! You will find mini black taxis, live street music, red telephone boxes, and castles. When I went to Edinburgh, I got to hold an owl!

4- Budapest, Hungary-

Budapest is the capital and most populous city of Hungary. The Sightseeing Night Cruise is a fun activity that anyone can enjoy at night. You can see the landmarks and highlights of Budapest from the river. Can you picture cocktails flowing and the breeze hitting your face? Did you know? Budapest has 200 caves to explore! The best way to experience them is with a professional tour guide. The Budapest Castle tour includes a complimentary coffee and dessert at a local cafe and admission to Matthias church. This tour takes you to important landmarks in Budapest.

6- Lisbon, Portugal-

The capital city of Portugal happens to be the second-oldest capital city in all of Europe. The architecture, art, and scenic views are charming. In Lisbon, you will be able to see new and old areas, with the benefits of the city being the least expensive capital in Europe.

7- Lagos, Portugal-

Portugal was formed by volcanic activity dating back millions of years ago. Portuguese history is preserved in museums and churches.

Lagos is home to stunning rock formations and caves that were formed by lava. The beaches come in all shapes, sizes, and colors because some are crystal-clear blue colors while others are emerald green. Some beaches are calm, and others have greater intensity. You will fall in love with the beaches of Portugal.

Paris is the capital city of France and is known for its magnificent view from the top of the Eiffel Tower. There are art museums and historical buildings to explore, as well as cute cafes and restaurants to try out! The food is incomparable to any other place, as the croissants and tea are quite delicious.

9- Seville, Spain-

Seville has outdoor cafes along cobblestone streets and horse carriages meandering through pastel-colored plazas. You have to go out at night and see flamenco dancing firsthand. The best theatre to watch Flamenco is El Palacio Andaluz.

Madrid is the capital city of Spain, known for its nightlife and architecture. Madrid is home to vibrant neighborhoods, stunning parks, and some of the best art institutions in Europe.

11- Barcelona, Spain-

A trip to Spain is incomplete without visiting Barcelona, Spain’s cultural capital. The city is home to Antoni Gaudi’s architecture, including the world’s most beautiful church, La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia features large stained-glass windows that drape the interior, 18 towers, and whimsical details like mosaic tiles. There is an elevator to get to the top of the two towers. The view of the city below is incredible.

This Spanish Island is known for its nightlife scene. The historical charm and beaches are also great reasons to visit Ibiza.

13- Canary Islands

The Spanish Islands are pristine for surfers, scuba divers, and sunbathers.

14- London, England-

London is the smallest city in the United Kingdom. There is always something to see and do in London. A trip to London is not complete without getting a ticket for the London Eye. The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel offering gorgeous views of London. Buckingham Palace is a landmark you must see if you are in London. The palace, home to the British Royal Family since 1837, features 775 rooms and one of the most beautiful private gardens in the world. Don’t forget to watch the world-famous Changing of the Guard. This historic tradition happens a few times every day. The red telephone boxes are one of the most enduring symbols of London today. They are not hard to miss, and you will find them all over the United Kingdom.

15- Amsterdam, Netherlands-

Amsterdam has historical attractions, canals, beautiful houses, breathtaking architecture, and coffee shops. Amsterdam has over 1,200 bridges and the canals are full of bicycles. Don’t forget to book this bike tour that will take you through Vondelkirk, which is similar to the central park of New York. They will stop at other landmarks, including the Anne Frank House! This Tulip and Windmill Tour will take you to experience Dutch nature and culture. You will stop at a cheese farm to try Gouda cheese, explore historic windmills, and visit Keukenhof’s Tulip Gardens. 16- Northern Ireland –

Ireland is one of the world’s friendliest countries, home to world-famous Irish pubs and lives music, beautiful parks, natural beauty, and stunning historical castles. The Cliffs of Moher is an hour and a half away from Galway. The Cliffs are on the west coast of Ireland in County Clare. WOW! The untouched natural beauty was breathtaking. You can walk along a 5-mile-long path near the cliff if you are not afraid of heights.

The Giant’s Causeway is a must-see because the beauty of this place is unreal. I have never seen anything so unique and mesmerizing. Visiting was my favorite place in Ireland, even better than the infamous Cliffs of Moher. I highly recommend adding this adventure to the top of your to-do list if you are ever visiting Ireland.

17- Dublin:

Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, is the largest city on the west coast. The Temple Bar is one of the most famous pubs in Dublin. The history of this pub goes back to 1599. The place contains the largest collection of rare whiskey in Dublin.

18- Galway:

Galway has lively pubs, restaurants, street performers, and independent shops through cobblestone streets. The stores in Galway are within walking distance. The city is truly charming!

19- Swiss Alps Switzerland

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful, scenic places. I went to Switzerland in September 2019 with my best friend Ariana. We tried the infamous Swiss chocolate, walked along the Chapel Bridge in Lucerne, and witnessed the incredible Swiss Alps. Did you know? Most of the Alps Mountain range falls under the Jurisdiction of Switzerland. The Alps Mountains cover 60% of the country’s total area and 48 mountains are 13,000 ft above the sea in altitude.

Tour to book: The Bernia Express day tour will take you to see the Swiss Alps from Milan.

20- Santorini, Greece-

Santorini is a dream destination because it has incredible landscapes and awesome things to do. Every corner brings something new for a photographer, from its iconic whitewashed buildings to the rich blue of the sea surrounding it. Minimalist design, blue roofs, and white walls are incorporated throughout the Greek islands to protect their homes from heat.

Oia is a town located in Santorini with some of the best sunsets. This place is especially magical because it has stunning views of the water. There are many different beaches to swim at in Santorini. Two famous beaches to visit are Red Beach and Perissa Beach. The beaches are volcanic, which means they will have black or red rocks. If getting into the water is your idea of a great time, then a trip to Perissa Beach is for you. There are a variety of water sports you can experience, including waterskiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or riding on a banana boat. Perissa Beach is the main center for water sports.

21- Athens, Greece-

Athens, the capital of Greece, is one of the oldest cities in the world because it has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, landing the earliest presence on earth. The remarkable city is known for its artists, cultural impact, and history. It is also known for being the birthplace of democracy and the motherland of western civilization. I highly recommend purchasing a unified ticket for 30 € in person to see all seven ancient sites in Athens, Greece. The ticket is valid for five days. Ancient sites the ticket provides entry for are the Acropolis and slopes, Ancient Agora and Museum of the Stoa of Attolos, Roman Agora, Library of Hadrian, Temple of Olympius Zeus, Kerameikos and Museum, and the Lykeion of Aristotle.

22- Venice, Italy-

Venice is the most picturesque city in Italy. It is a city surrounded by canals and over 400 bridges. I highly recommend taking a gondola or boat ride through the city, as you will see the city from a different perspective. A friendly, knowledgeable tour guide who happens to sing is an experience you will remember forever. The sunsets in Venice are stunning, as the sky turns pink, yellow, purple, and orange colors. What better way to experience Venice than to attend a carnival? The carnivals are where citizens dress up in anonymous costumes making fun of the aristocracy without fear. Even if you are not visiting Venice during an annual festival, the masks are spectacular and super unique to Venice. Pick up your own as a souvenir. You can even take a class to build your own!
