We list free activities and tours to book. I always share tours in my blog posts because it is a great way to see a new place. If you have been to a country in the past, you can explore better on your own; however, if it is your first time, then what better way of learning about a new country and culture than with a professional tour guide, who is also a local?

#1: Gorilla Trek at Volcanos National Park in Uganda

There is nothing as mesmerizing as seeing wild gorillas living their day-to-day lives up close in the wild in their natural habitat.

Locations:

The best area in Uganda to trek with Gorillas is at Volcanos National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. At Bwindi, you will hike for about 4 hours through the rainforest. You might find slippery mud paths and fire aunts; however, the humid hike is worth it because you get to see amazing views. oh, and of course, gorillas…

Tips: You need to book a trekking tour that also gives you access to a permit.

#2: African Safari at Akagera National Park

This African safari experience is one for the books because you will spot incredible wildlife and have a private tour guide. You will see black rhinos, lions, zebras, giraffes, and more! The tour will provide round-trip hotel transfers with WIFI. The tour guide drives you in a wetland off-road vehicle through the safari. Do not forget to bring your camera because the photos you take will last a lifetime. We recommend printing out pictures from all of your trips so that you can reminisce on the memories that you made.

#3: Morocco’s Blu City Called Chefchaouen

Tourists come to see the world-famous beautiful blue-painted alleys, buildings, and paths. The city is found 20 miles from the Mediterranean coast in the hills of the Rif mountains. The best things to do in the blu city are walking through the old town called Medina, visiting the museums, including Kasbah Museum, and chasing waterfalls. The best waterfalls are Ras El-Maa Waterfall and Akchour Waterfalls.

#4: Meet African and Cape Penguins in South Africa

Did I say Penguins? YES! Penguins. Penguins are beautiful creatures who are elegant in the water and quirky above water. You can witness penguins in their natural habitat at Boulders Beach, Betty’s Bay, Robben Island, and Dassan Island. Gazing at the penguins and taking photos is PERFECTLY fine; however, please do not try to pet or pick them up because they might bite you.

#5- Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in the world and sits along the Zambezi River in southern Africa. The waterfall has a width of 5,604 ft wide! WOW. The height varies between 230 ft and 360 ft. The power and beauty of nature will move you to tears. You can see the falls from a helicopter! Now, that is a sight you don’t want to miss.

#6: Spot wild Baboons in Ethiopia Simien Mountains

The Simien Mountains in northern Ethiopia have stunning views and incredible landscapes. Erosion over millions of years created mountain peaks, valleys, and steep cliffs. Roaming the area, you will find Gelada Baboons, mountain goats, also known as Walia ibex, and Ethiopian wolves.

Did you know? Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa. My best friend is about to go on the trek of her life for 10 days to Mount Kilimanjaro this summer. She is super terrified, yet excited. She is going to train every day until the trip. It will be full days of hiking and camping at night.

#9: Local Markets and Bazaars-

Practice your bargaining skills, support local businesses, and admire the country’s culture and food at the local markets in Africa.

#10: Attend a Festival-

Ethnic groups celebrate festivals daily in Africa with live music, costumes, and food. As a tourist, it is not always easy to go or know where they are; however, when you go to Africa, ask the locals, and they will have more insight.

Bonus: Make a Difference Volunteering-

Thousands of programs allow you to teach, work, and live alongside a community in Africa, leading to a deeper appreciation for what you have at home. You can volunteer for a few days or a few months. It is up to you how you want to help!
