How to Accomplish Your Bucket List Goals

How to Accomplish Your Bucket List Goals

Start saving your ideas

Have you ever wondered if you will ever reach your hopes and dreams? I am here to tell you you can! You CAN… and you WILL! The secret is that you MUST believe in yourself to accomplish your bucket list goals! Having positive self-talk is EVERYTHING, but it is not all you need. The most important part is to set SMART goals! Once you have SMART goals, you must develop a strategic plan for your aspirations to become your reality. It’s all about taking that first step and staying dedicated. Don’t forget to CELEBRATE your accomplishments along the way. Below is how to accomplish your bucket list goals!

#1: Set S.M.A.R.T. goals –

Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals is a great way to start your journey toward accomplishing your dreams. This framework will help you clarify your ideas, focus your efforts, and use your time effectively.

What are S.M.A.R.T. goals?

Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.

A. Specific:

First, you need to set goals that are as SPECIFIC as possible. Answer the following questions to get a specific goal:

  • Who? Consider who needs to be involved to accomplish your goal.
  • What? What are you trying to accomplish?
  • Where? Is there a location?
  • When? Set at timeframe.
  • Which? Determine any related obstacles. For example, if the big picture is to open a bakery. The obstacle is you have never baked before. Consider switching the goal to learn how to bake to open a bakery.
  • Why? What is the reason for your goal?

B. Measurable:

There should be a way to measure progress toward the goal, such as through numbers, percentages, or specific milestones.

C. Achievable:

The goal should be realistic and attainable. Consider your resources and time available.

D. Relevant:

The goal should be relevant to your objectives and priorities.

E. Time-bound:

Select a deadline or time frame for achieving the goal, providing a sense of urgency and motivation.

To help inspire you, I recommend purchasing the TRAVEL VISION BOARD from Amazon!

#2: Create a Plan:

Develop a step-by-step plan about how you will achieve your goals. What are the actions you need to take to reach your goal? Make a list of everything you have to do to reach that goal. Let’s say your goal is to save money to book a flight to Peru and see Machu Picchu. The action would be to cook at home more often versus ordering takeout or going out to eat. This planner from AMAZON is perfect to help you get started!!

#3: Take Action:

Put your plan into action and start working towards your goals. Consistent effort is key to making progress toward your hopes and dreams. If your goal was to see the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. The actions would be to BOOK A FLIGHT to Iceland and TOUR to the Blue Lagoon!

Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who will encourage you to keep going, even when faced with challenges. Consider finding a mentor or coach who can offer guidance and accountability.

Sometimes opportunities or challenges may arise, and it’s vital to adapt and change course if necessary.

Before you plan your trip, sit down and figure out how much money you can spend. Figuring out your budget for the vacation will help you make decisions correlated to that amount. The budget will help you determine where to go, how long to stay, and what activities to do while you’re there. One of the expenses that might break the budget when traveling is the cost of flights and accommodations. To save money on these expenses, be flexible with dates and times. If you travel on a Monday or Tuesday, your flight will be cheaper. CheapOair and Hopper are great budget-friendly apps that can help you compare airlines to find the best deals. Consider alternative lodging options, such as hostels or VRBO. You can also save money by booking your flights and accommodations well in advance or taking advantage of last-minute deals.

3: Travel During the Off-Peak Season:

Traveling during the off-peak season can help you save money on flights, accommodations, and activities. Popular tourist destinations are usually more expensive during peak travel times, so consider traveling during the shoulder seasons when prices are lower and crowds are smaller. You can also save money by avoiding holidays and weekends.

4: Use Public Transportation:

Instead of renting a car or taking taxis everywhere, use public transportation to save money while traveling. Most cities have efficient and affordable public transportation systems, such as buses, trains, and subways, that can help you get around without breaking the bank. Book train tickets to travel in Europe from Rail Europe! You can also save money by walking or biking to your destination, which is a perfect option because you can explore the city on foot.

5: Eat Like a Local:

Dining out while traveling can quickly add up, so save money by eating like a local. Skip the touristy restaurants and opt for local street food and markets. You can also save money by shopping at local grocery stores. You can prepare your meals and have a picnic at the park.

6: Take Advantage of Low-Cost Activities:

While traveling, there are plenty of free and low-cost activities that you can enjoy without spending a lot of money. Visit free museums, parks, and attractions. Exploring nature is also FREE! Free activities include hiking, swimming at the beach, or biking in the great outdoors. You can also save money by taking advantage of free guided tours or discounted entrance fees. Book tours on TripAdvisor, Get Your Guide, and Viator to do multiple activities in one day. Transportation and lunch are usually included in the tour!

7: Travel with a Group or Partner:

Traveling with friends or family members can help you save money on accommodations, transportation, and activities by splitting the costs. You can also save money by sharing meals, buying groceries in bulk, and booking group tours or activities.

8: Use Rewards and Loyalty Programs:

Take advantage of rewards and loyalty programs offered by airlines, hotels, and credit card companies to save money on your travels. Earn points or miles for every dollar you spend on flights, accommodations, and everyday purchases, and redeem them for free or discounted travel in the future. You can also save money by signing up for travel credit cards with sign-up bonuses, annual fee waivers, and other perks.

9: Pack Light:

Avoid extra baggage fees and save money on transportation by packing light. Pack versatile and comfortable clothing that you can wear more than once in different combinations, as well as travel-sized toiletries and essentials. You can also save money by bringing your snacks and reusable water bottles.

10: Be Flexible and Open-Minded:

One of the best ways to save money while traveling is to be flexible and open-minded about your plans and experiences. Be open to exploring new destinations, trying new foods, and meeting new people, even if they’re not part of your original itinerary. By being flexible and open-minded, you can take advantage of new opportunities, make the most of your budget, and have a more authentic and rewarding travel experience.

We shared 10 tips for traveling on a budget. In conclusion, traveling on a budget is possible with planning. By setting a budget, looking for deals, traveling during off-peak times, using public transportation, eating like a local, enjoying free activities, traveling with a group, using rewards programs, packing light, and being flexible, you can save money while having a memorable trip. Traveling can often come with its fair share of problems. Here are 10 ways to overcome challenges while traveling.

1. Stay Calm:

The first step in overcoming problems while traveling is to stay calm and composed. Panicking will only add to the stress and make it harder to find a solution. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you can handle the situation.

2. Prepare in Advance:

Before embarking on your trip, conduct research about the destination you are visiting. Book your hotels, tours, and transportation in advance to save yourself from added stress. Lastly, familiarize yourself with local customs and rules. This preparation can help minimize potential problems and make it easier to navigate them if they occur.

3. Have a Contingency Plan:

Always have a backup plan if something goes wrong. It could include having extra money for unexpected expenses or knowing alternative routes.

4. Be Flexible:

One of the most important skills to develop while traveling is flexibility. Things may not always go as planned, and being open to changes and adjustments can help you adapt and find alternative solutions.

5. Stay Organized:

Keep all your important documents, such as passports, travel confirmations, and emergency contacts, in a safe and easily accessible place. Being organized will save you time and stress when dealing with any issues. The passport holder has room for your cards, passport, and phone. The elastic band to keep your phone in place while charging is what sold me on this product!

6. Seek Local Help:

If you encounter problems, ask the locals or the receptionist at your hotel for assistance. They have a better understanding of the area and can provide valuable advice. For example, Tom and I had a flight in the early morning at 6 am from Venice to get to the airport. We needed a boat to get to the airport at 4 am. We were able to figure this frustration out of getting a water taxi in the middle of the night because the receptionist at our hotel helped us out.

7. Have Travel Insurance:

AirHelp+ 300X250

Having travel insurance can provide a safety net for unexpected events like medical emergencies, lost luggage, or trip cancellations. Carefully reading and understanding the policy before you travel is essential. The best resources to have insurance while you are on the road are Safety Wing and Covermore. Safety Wing focuses on medical travel insurance. Cover more includes coverage for personal items, electrical goods, and more. Air Help offers 100% compensation on your flight, whether your flight was delayed or canceled. Please click on the image above to learn more!

8. Learn Basic Phrases:

If you are visiting a country where you don’t speak the local language, learning a few basic phrases can help communicate your needs and get assistance in case of any problems.

9. Stay Connected:

Ensure you have a working phone and internet access while traveling. Wifi is vital and will allow you to seek help from family or friends and have access to digital maps, like Waze or Google Maps.

10. Learn from the Experience:

Sometimes, overcoming problems while traveling can be a learning opportunity. Reflect on the challenges you faced and how you managed to overcome them. Reflecting on past experiences can help you become a more prepared traveler in the future.

At every point in our lives, we have things we want to do, so why not write them down? Did you know? If you write down your goals, to-do list, or bucket list, you are more likely to accomplish them. A bucket list can be personal, like getting married or having children. The list can be more adventurous, like skydiving or swimming with whale sharks. Before we dive deeper into reasons to create a bucket list, we will go over how to make one!

Step 1: Get Inspired-

We also recommend reading the best-selling book ‘The Bucket List- 1000 Adventures Big and Small’ which you can purchase on Amazon!

Step 2: Visualize-

Visualize where you want to travel, what you want to experience, the skills you want to learn, the people you want to meet, where you want to live, and anything that matters to you personally.

Step 3: Categorize-

Categorize your bucket list into segments to guarantee you do not miss anything you want to do in your life.
-Destinations
-Family-oriented
-Health and Fitness
-Business and Finance
-Career
-Food and Drink
-Holidays and Seasons
-Relationships and Friends
-Travel and Adventures

Step 4: Make a List-

Write down a bucket list of things to do based on each category! Do you still need inspiration? Read The Ultimate Bucket List to help inspire you!

Step 4: Make a Vision Board-

Print out pictures of everything and put them on a piece of paper.

Step 5: Make an Action Plan-

Write down what you have to do to achieve each bucket list item. Do you want to go snorkeling? Great! To accomplish this, book a snorkel adventure on a Caribbean Island!! Read the 12 Best Caribbean Islands to Visit to help pick a destination to go snorkeling!

Step 6: Start Taking Action-

Start taking action toward your hopes and dreams! For example, you would book a flight and snorkel tour in Antigua!

Tips to Accomplish Your Bucket List:

-Be Accountable
-Pick Starter Goals (Short Term)
-Set a Deadline
-Break Down Goals into Actionable Steps
-Start Today
-Celebrate

Example of Breaking Down Goals to Action Steps:

Bucket List:
I want to see the Blue Lagoon in Iceland

-Research the Best Time to go to the Blue Lagoon
-Request Time off of Work
-Book a Blue Lagoon Tour in Iceland
-Research Flights to Iceland
-Book a Flight to Iceland

Below are ten reasons to make a bucket list!!

1: Manifestation and Goal Setting:

A bucket list can help you manifest what you want in your life. Manifesting is the act or practice of bringing something into your life through belief. When you set goals, you can achieve more in life, whether it is your finances, fitness, career, relationships, or home life.

2: Reflections:

Before:
Before you make a bucket list, it can help you reflect on your hopes, dreams, values, and goals. What are your likes? Dislikes? What makes you happy? What are your top priorities?

After:
After knocking off a bucket list item, you can reflect on the adventures and memories created with friends and family. It is easy to bond with others over new experiences!!

3: Better Decision Making:

The list can identify experiences that we want to have in our lifetime. It will help you figure out what is important to you. You will make better decisions in your life toward your goals. For example, let’s say your goal is to save money to travel, then you can try to cook at home more often versus going out to eat.

4: Sense of Fulfillment:

Knocking off a bucket list item and accomplishing a goal will create a sense of fulfillment!

5: Excitement:

Before:
You will be excited to get up early in the morning and stay up late at night to start planning your adventure.

After:
You will also be happy once you accomplish your goals. You can print out photos of the adventures to reflect on your completed bucket list items!

6: Sense of Direction and Focus:

It can give you a sense of direction and help you focus more on what is important to you and why! It will help you determine your end goal and the steps needed to take you there, keeping your eye focused on the prize!

7:Motivation:

It gives you motivation to accomplish your goals. Having a list will inspire you naturally to want to cross things off of it.

8: Experiences, Learning, and Exploring:

You will have unforgettable experiences, explore new places, and learn something new! For example, you can learn a new language, sew, take better photos, or scuba dive. Whatever it is that you want in life, you can do it!

9: Dream Bigger:

A bucket list is an invitation to dream bigger. The time limit is before you die, so this opens up possibilities. It takes away the limitation of fear, time, and money.

10: Keeps You Moving:

Imagine reflecting on Kayaking at Lake Tahoe in California or Hiking through Zion National Park or Bryce Canyon in Utah. Adventurous items will get you off the sofa and keep you moving.

We listed 10 reasons to create a bucket list. What are you waiting for? Start making your list today!

Top 8 Travel Resources

Top 8 Travel Resources

We list the best resources to help you find the cheapest flight, purchase train tickets, book excursions, and select where to stay. We share how to get volunteer work, apply for your passport, and find Visa information. These resources will make traveling easier. They help me when traveling somewhere for the first time and somewhere I have been previously! Below are the top 8 travel resources!

Download the Free Travel Planner

We send a travel planner that you can print out!

1: Passport

We all know that you need a PASSPORT to travel internationally. You have to renew your passport nine months before it expires. Always check the expiration date before booking an international flight.

Fill out a Passport Application form at www.usa.gov/passport. The application fee for a Passport Book is $130.00 and for a Passport Card is $30.00, but who doesn’t love PASSPORT STAMPS? Haha, just kidding, but in all honesty, if you want to save $100.00, get the card. It costs the same to apply for your first time or renew it.

In the application, you have to download a passport picture. The best spot to get your passport photo taken is at your local CVS. They print your photos instantly!

2: Book Your Flights

You might be wondering how to get the best price for your flight and when is the best day to book your flight. You can compare flights and dates on the App Hopper! Hopper compares prices from all airlines and finds you the best deal. I always notice it is cheaper to travel on a weekday, like a Monday or Tuesday. Another way to compare flights is at CheapOair. You can book flights, hotels, and cars at CheapOair!

3: Excursions

The best resources to book your excursions are TripAdvisor, Get Your Guide, and Viator. They offer tours ALL over the world. Tours are a great idea because they provide transportation, multiple things to do in one day, and the guides offer valuable insight!

4: Visa

Project Visa lists Visa requirements for all countries.

5: Where to Stay

You can stay anywhere, from hotels and boutique apartments to hostels and guesthouses. The list of places to stay is endless. We recommend using the VRBO for apartments, Booking.com for hotels, or Hostel World for hostels. Visit each site according to what kind of accommodation you are looking for. Be sure to read reviews to help you decide where to stay!

7: Trains

Rail Europe will help you with booking train tickets and travel within Europe. You can see 33 countries with one pass! Trainline is the ultimate train resource. You can get the best available prices, times, and train/bus tickets for your journey in 45 countries!

8: Travel Insurance

AirHelp+ 300X50

The best resources to have insurance while you are on the road are Safety Wing and Covermore. Safety Wing focuses on medical travel insurance. Covermore includes coverage for personal items, electrical goods, and more. Air Help offers compensation on your flight whether it was delayed or canceled.
