The 12 Best Tours to Book in Rio De Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro has incredible natural landscapes, from beautiful beaches to rugged mountains. We recommend booking tours in Rio if you are on a time limit and budget. I recently went to Brazil and we have completed a few of the tours listed below. This post is based on personal experience and research that I have conducted. Below are the top 12 best tours to book in Rio De Janeiro.

Tour #1: 6-Stop Highlights Tour

(Christ the Redeemer, Cable Car to Sugarloaf Mountain, Seralon Steps, Cathedral, and Stadium)

Tour Options:

6-Stop Hightlights Tour

Christ the Redeemer + BBQ Lunch Tour

1-Christ the Redeemer Statue-

The first stop will be to visit one of the seven wonders of the world or the Christ the Redeemer Statue. WOW! The panoramic views from the top of Corcovado Mountain are breathtaking. The statue is massive, weighing 635 lbs at 98 feet tall and 92 feet wide.

The Seralon Steps were overcrowded. I did not even get to walk up the steps; however, if you look closely at each tile, it truly is magnificent. Did you know? There are 2,000 brightly colored tiles. Jorge Selaron spent 20 years collecting tiles from around the world.

4- Maracana-

After visiting the Seralon Steps, you will learn more about Brazilian’s passion for football and samba at the Maracanã and the Sambadrome.

The BBQ lunch was so delicious. If you go to Rio, do not have Italian food, eat MEAT! The meat in Brazil is tasty.

6- Cathedral-

For now, you can watch a video on YouTube to find out the winner of the 2024 event!

Tour #3: Backstage Carnival Tour-

Rio Carnival Backstage Pass Tour

If you are not going to Brazil during the parade dates, I recommend booking a backstage pass! We had to push our trip to Brazil back because a tragedy occurred. We did not get to go to the Carnival parade. I decided I still wanted to get a feel for Carnival, so I booked the Backstage Carnival Tour. Fast forward to a rainy day in Rio and we were off to experience Carnival from a behind-the-scenes look with an entertaining guide who spoke English!

The tour began backstage at one of the twelve samba school warehouses, where we not only got to see incredible floats but also were able to try on a traditional Carnival costume. We learned so much on the tour, from when they started preparing for the event to how they picked the music, floats, and costumes. We even learned that 20% are professionals and the other 80% volunteer. Locals volunteer because the parade is a part of their culture and they are passionate about performing. After the tour, you will get a refreshing complimentary cocktail and can purchase souvenirs!
