St. Thomas is one of the three United States Virgin Islands, along with St. Croix and St. Johns. This place is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world! Below are 28 things to do in St. Thomas.

Fun Facts:

  • St. Thomas is approximately 3 miles wide and 12 miles long
  • The climate is tropical all year round, with an average temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit
  • The local currency is the U.S. dollar
  • Driving is on the left-hand side
  • The volcanic island rises to a maximum elevation of 1,550 feet
  • Pack light clothing and sunscreen

Beaches:

From firsthand experience, the beaches in St. Thomas are nothing short of beautiful. We swam among wild sea turtles and schools of fish at Brewers Bay and enjoyed Pina Coladas at the bar at Magens Bay. Listed below are four beaches that I have visited and recommend.

1- Magens Bay-

There are many things to do at Magens Bay, from relaxing in the warm, clear water to swimming, kayaking, or even paddle boarding. They also have a beach bar and a small café.

2- Sapphire Beach-

Sapphire beach is a stunning place to relax. Tour guides will pick you up from this location to go sailing at sunset. You can book your experience here!

3- Lindqvist Beach

We went to Lindqvist Beach every day since it was the beach closest to our hotel. It is a perfect place to go Jet Skiing. They also have a hotel on this beach, where you can go to the bar for fruity drinks or have a delicious meal.

4- Brewers Bay-

Brewers Bay

Do not forget to bring your snorkel gear because there is wildlife located at Brewers Bay. Also, bring an underwater camera to get some great shots! We were lucky enough to witness a sea turtle at Brewers Bay.

Beautiful Views:

St. Thomas has the most breathtaking views of the ocean from up above in that the island is very mountainous. Driving up and down the mountain is scary because of the narrow roads. Driving is on the left-hand side, so I recommend getting around the island via a taxi. Taxis are available at almost every tourist destination. Some of the best views on the island are at Paradise Point, Drakes Seat, and Mountain Top.

There is a Sky ride to paradise point, and it is certainly a site you do not want to miss.

6- Drake’s Seat-

Drakes Seat overlooks the north side of Saint Thomas on Route 40.

7- Mountain Top-

Mountain Top is a café and bar with great views from its 1,500 feet perch on the summit of St. Peter Mountain. The café is known for the invention of the famous banana daiquiri.

Black Beard’s Castle stands at the top of 99 steps. The view is stunning.

Fort Christian is a history museum that you do not want to miss!

10- Frederick Lutheran Church

Fredrick Lutheran Church is the oldest church in St. Thomas, completed in 1793.

You can also spend 30 minutes with sharks in a tank at Coral World Ocean Park. This is not in the ocean and the sharks are small; however, it is a unique experience that you can learn more about here.

13- Turtle Snorkel & Sail Adventure:

15- Phantasea Tropical Botanical Garden-

The tropical garden is a eco-attraction and is open every day of the week except for Mondays. The tropical garden has beautiful blooming orchids, lilies, palms, and more. Not only is there a calming view of nature, but lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies, and various other wildlife surround the area.

This lush tropical garden has beautiful orchids, plants, and flowers.

17- Natural Parks in St. John-

A few national parks to see in St John include Sage Mountain National Park, Cinnamon Bay Nature Trail, Reef Bay Trail, Lind Point Trail, and Cam Bay National Park.

18- St. Croix-

A few things to do in St. Croix include visiting Buck Island Reef National Monument and swimming at Rainbow Beach.

19- Visit Magic Ice-

This place is the largest permanent Ice Gallery. They offer warm, protective clothing and a complimentary drink served at the ice bar. This place is open all year from 10 am to 5 pm.

20- Pirates Treasure Museum-

Pirates Treasure Museum is a shipwreck museum showcasing authentic artifacts and treasures from the world-famous deep-ocean discoveries of Odyssey Marine Exploration. You can explore hands-on interactive exhibits and learn about the tales and treasures of deep-ocean exploration.

21- Kayak at the Mangrove Lagoon-

This kayak adventure is listed on TripAdvisor and combines kayaking and snorkeling at the Mangrove Lagoon. The mangrove forest is a maze that can be challenging to explore; however, a guide will lead you; meanwhile, you can simply focus on the scenery.

There are a ton of good hiking trails at Hassel Island. The historical land has trails that are in excellent condition.
